Okay, I know there is one more day left of June, but I am 99.99% sure I won’t buy anymore books tomorrow. Here is my collective book haul for the month, including four I bought yesterday, oops.
The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood.
I feel like everybody but me has read this book, i’m not even kidding. With the TV show recently being on people have been talking about it a lot more and I decided it was time I bought the book & try it out for myself, i’m currently reading it as we speak.
The Honeymoon by Tina Seskis
A genre I haven’t really delved much into is thriller, and I want to change that. I bought this at the same time as The Handmaid’s Tale because one, the cover really stood out to me on the shelf and two because I love me a bargain. The story is in a luxury setting in the the Maldives, with a couple on their honeymoon, when suddenly The MC (Jemma)’s husband has disappeared. Hopefully this book is as good as the cover is pretty.
Days Of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor
I recently read Strange The Dreamer and LOVED it, i’ve had Daughter Of Smoke & Bone sat on my book shelf for longer than I care to admit, but am now hoping to get to it real soon, When I saw this edition of the second book in a charity shop yesterday, I couldn’t resist, I haven’t seen this version of the cover before, I have a feeling its an older edition. Also Laini is going to be at YALC in London next month (which i’m attending).
If I Was Your Girl by Meredith Russo
I’ve heard nothing but good things about this book, it features a trans MC and is also an ownvoices novel, I’m excited to get to this soon.
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
A book i’ve wanted to pick up for the longest time! a lot of people love this book and I really enjoy circus themed books, I have high hopes for this one, I’ve heard its very descriptive, which I personally love, I like being able to feel like i’m there, hopefully it doesn’t disappoint.
The Sin Eater’s Daughter by Melinda Salisbury
UKYA authors have been slaying the game recently in terms of debuts i’ve read, so I decided it was time to delve into the back catalogue to some books that i’ve seen people online rave about the past few years. This book is one that I had seen the cover pop up here there & everywhere on twitter, but never actually went and researched what it’s about. When I saw this one on a shelf yesterday I decided to pick it up on a whim, the cover is also gorgeous, so hopefully I end up liking this one.
The next two books were sent to to me for review
Shattered Minds by Laura Lam
When I got this through the mail my face was literally the heart eyes emoji, the hardcover is absolutely stunning and reflective and almost creepy at the same time. It’s a science fiction/fantasy/thriller. From the blurb this book feels super dark and intriguing, and I actual want to pick this up NOW.
Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch
Anybody that knows me, knows my obsession with Italy, so when I heard about a summery contemporary book about a girl visiting Tuscany, with lots of adventuring around and romance thrown in the mix, I was like SIGN ME UP.
Has anyone read any of these? / what books are you dying to get to in the month of July?
Have a good week guys. x
