Amazon description: When socialite Lexi Volkov almost overdoses, she thinks she’s hit rock bottom.
She’s wrong. Rock bottom is when she’s forced into an exclusive rehab facility.
From there, the only way is up for Lexi and her fellow inmates, including the mysterious Brady.
As she faces her demons, Lexi realises love is the most powerful drug of all …
It’s a dirty business getting clean.
Addiction and redemption, love and despair. Clean will have you hooked from the first page.
I’ve been super intrigued and interested in this book for a long time. I was super excited about it after I read a sampler of this book waaay back in the summer of 2017 when I picked it up from YALC.
This is the first book I’ve read from this author, which is kind of ridiculous because I’ve actually been following her on social media for many years, which sometimes I guess is the way, things sitting on your shelf for way too long or having a book in the back of your mind and never going to pick it up. Following on from reading CLEAN though, I’d love to pick up more from Juno in the future!
To start this off on a positive note, this is probably my favorite book I’ve read this year so far (I know its only march…)
I’ve never read a book quite like this before, it covers themes that are often overlooked in YA and it was refreshing, to say the least. You are more than your addiction. Something that was very important for me was the aspect of romance in this book, I didn’t want it to overshadow or worse, be one of those books where finding someone or loving someone somehow miraculously fixes the problems. Thankfully it wasn’t. This wasn’t a simple journey, this wasn’t just fixed after a few days in rehab. It was complex and beautifully written, we saw the main character face some big challenges mentally and physically as part of her recovery.
As hard as it was I loved following Lexi’s story, the writing and characters were great, in a way the novel reminds me of the Netflix movie To The Bone (highly recommend watching this if you haven’t already) but maybe more intense. It was a fast and compelling read!
I cannot wait to read Juno’s next release MEAT MARKET (out May 30th). In fact, I might just go preorder that now…
