Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
This week I think i’m going to feature a contemporary book and a fantasy book i’m excited for.
For contemporary i’m excited for:
My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella
Release: February 9th (UK)/February 7th (US)
Goodreads synopsis: Katie Brenner has the perfect life: a flat in London, a glamorous job, and a super-cool Instagram feed.
Ok, so the real truth is that she rents a tiny room with no space for a wardrobe, has a hideous commute to a lowly admin job, and the life she shares on Instagram isn’t really hers.
But one day her dreams are bound to come true, aren’t they?
Until her not-so perfect life comes crashing down when her mega-successful boss Demeter gives her the sack. All Katie’s hopes are shattered. She has to move home to Somerset, where she helps her dad with his new glamping business.
Then Demeter and her family book in for a holiday, and Katie sees her chance. But should she get revenge on the woman who ruined her dreams? Or try to get her job back? Does Demeter – the woman with everything – have such an idyllic life herself? Maybe they have more in common than it seems.
And what’s wrong with not-so-perfect, anyway?
Having read 5+ of Sophie’s books last year, its fair to say she has quickly become a favourite author of mine, her writing never fails to make me laugh, her books are entertaining and I honestly speed through them. I highly recommend Can You Keep A Secret? & The Undomestic Goddess, I also really enjoyed her YA debut Finding Audrey. At this point I’m pretty sure I will read anything she writes, her writing is addictive. At least theres not too long to wait for this one.
as for fantasy as this is my first time doing waiting on wednesday its hard to narrow it down to just one, but for this week i’m going for:
A Court Of Wings And Ruin by Sarah J Maas
Release date: May 2nd
Goodreads synopsis: Looming war threatens all Feyre holds dear in the third volume of the #1 New York Times bestselling A Court of Thorns and Rosesseries.
Feyre has returned to the Spring Court, determined to gather information on Tamlin’s maneuverings and the invading king threatening to bring Prythian to its knees. But to do so she must play a deadly game of deceit-and one slip may spell doom not only for Feyre, but for her world as well. As war bears down upon them all, Feyre must decide who to trust amongst the dazzling and lethal High Lords-and hunt for allies in unexpected places.
In this thrilling third book in the #1 New York Times bestselling series from Sarah J. Maas, the earth will be painted red as mighty armies grapple for power over the one thing that could destroy them all.
Having read A Court Of Thorns And Roses in 2015 and really liking it, then reading A Court Of Mist And Fury earlier this year and completely fell in love with it. It’s an understatement that i’m excited for this book, but its a mixture of excitement and being nervous. Because Sarah has this thing with second books in a series, Crown Of Midnight (Throne Of Glass #2) is my favourite book in that on going series and now with that happening with ACOMAF being my favourite so far, A Court Of Wings And Ruin has a lot to live up to. Nevertheless I can’t wait to read this, I love the whole cast of characters and the world. Bring on may!
