Moving to a space station at the edge of the galaxy
was always going to be the death of Hanna’s social life. Nobody said it might actually get her killed.
The sci-fi saga that began with the breakout bestseller Illuminae continues on board the Jump Station Heimdall, where two new characters will confront the next wave of the BeiTech assault.
Hanna is the station captain’s pampered daughter; Nik the reluctant member of a notorious crime family. But while the pair are struggling with the realities of life aboard the galaxy’s most boring space station, little do they know that Kady Grant and the Hypatia are headed right toward Heimdall, carrying news of the Kerenza invasion.
When an elite BeiTech strike team invades the station, Hanna and Nik are thrown together to defend their home. But alien predators are picking off the station residents one by one, and a malfunction in the station’s wormhole means the space-time continuum might be ripped in two before dinner. Soon Hanna and Nik aren’t just fighting for their own survival; the fate of everyone on the Hypatia—and possibly the known universe—is in their hands.
But relax. They’ve totally got this. They hope.
Once again told through a compelling dossier of emails, IMs, classified files, transcripts, and schematics, Gemina raises the stakes of the Illuminae Files, hurling readers into an enthralling new story that will leave them breathless.
After reading Illuminae the first book in this series in 2015 and getting to that last page and finding out that it was going to be a series I immediately needed the next book like yesterday. The first book was wonderful, this series has one of the coolest design formats I have ever read, specially in Young Adult and Gemina is just as cool (if not cooler from what I have seen from previews of the final version!)
In Gemina we follow Hanna Donnelly, the pampered daughter of the space stations captain, who to be honest is a pretty badass character who shouldn’t be messed with. I really love all the other new characters, including Nik which subsequently is who provides Hanna with certain drugs and such, He is known for being part of a criminal family of which he is a lot different from his siblings. He is also a massive flirt towards Hanna, which is awkward because she has a boyfriend, but amusing to witness at the same time.
After the ship is attacked they and Nik’s cousin Ella (Who is hilarious and wonderful) have to fight for survival, this story will have your heart racing with all its twist & turns.
Gemina is just as fast paced as Illuminae & the most epic space adventure story. I can’t wait to purchase the finalised copy and see all the final illustrations from Marie Lu!
If you haven’t started this series yet, YOU NEED TO GET ON IT.
