Hey guys, today i’m bringing you my review of Dare To Fall by Estelle Maskame for the Blog tour.
A year ago, MacKenzie Rivers was beginning her junior year in Colorado and she was falling in love with Jaden Hunter. But a lot can change in a twelve months… When Jaden’s parents are killed in a freak car accident, Kenzie does the only thing she knows how to do: walk away. She knows all too well the impact that death can have on the people she loves, and seeing the effects of grief is something she just can’t handle. Despite her attempts to keep Jaden at arm’s length, Kenzie realizes she can’t run from her feelings forever. As old emotions flare, will Kenzie dare to fall for the person she’s most afraid of growing close to?
As someone who loved the DIMILY trilogy (published & unpublished) and read it back when it was on booksie all those years ago, I’ve been highly anticipating something new from Estelle..
And Dare To Fall didn’t disappoint.
I loved how the book started with the end of MacKenzie’s & Jaden’s relationship & the beginning, it made it a different kind of experience.
This book was heart wrenching and relatable, one of the subjects talked about in this book is grief, in different forms and how it can effect family & friendships. It was written extremely well and for anyone who’s read Estelle’s previous books, I feel like her writing has gotten even better.
I loved the characters, The main character MacKenzie tries to avoid feeling certain emotions and takes herself away from situations that ‘trigger’ as such, which is completely understandable with everything that her and her family have been through and are still going through, it felt realistic to me.
Jaden was different that I thought he would be – but in a good way. I really liked him & his sister Dani and I really felt for them. It was really great seeing Dani let herself have fun and come out of her shell as the story went on.
I also loved will and his silly sense of humour, everyone needs a friend like him, that makes light of awkward situations.
I can’t NOT mention the cover, I’m obsessed with the watercolour/painted feel and the colours are stunning!
In conclusion this book is a heart wrenching story, full of adorable romance and the importance of family & friendship. Highly recommend.
If you haven’t picked up Dare To Fall or DIMILY yet what are you doing?!
