Today i’m going to talk about a subject I haven’t mentioned a whole deal about on my blog before, which is design! specifically Graphic Design. I recently just finished my degree in Graphics and its something i’ve been passionate about for a long time. Today I just thought i’d show a few book cover ‘redesigns’ that i’ve done this past year (for fun).
I like finishing a book and taking all my thoughts and emotions from it and recreating my own idea for a book cover, (be nice pls).
NOTE: Obviously all of the original covers are amazing, I admire a lot of these publishing designers so much, this is just me designing for fun.
To start off here is something I finished this morning! I’m currently rereading this book ready for Godsgrave and I had a few ideas flowing for a cover I just had to sit down and do it today, Incorporating Mia’s shadows and the use of red was important to me. I also wanted Mia to be in Silhouette form.
Next is Traitor to the throne by Alwyn Hamilton, I had a lot of fun designing this one, I wanted the eyes to pop and to keep with the warm desert colours.
Next is my reimagining of A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab. After being extremely late to the club in starting this series (I don’t even have a good reason why) I really wanted to create something after finishing the first two books.
Next up is one of my favourite books ever, Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff. I really wanted to create something that looks highly digitised, incorporating coding and pixelated typography.
Lastly just to add some contemporary in the mix, here is one for Lola & The Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins. For this cover I really wanted to focus in on Lola’s design skills and her love for fashion & costume.
Honest opinions welcome, I love any feedback/opinions!
